Luxury weekend

Stayed for two nights with my wife and two High School buddies and their wives. This place is fantastic and you can tell the minute you pull up. Be careful with your GPS directions though once you get in the area. Beautiful driveway with valet and doormen. Every employee we met from the kid vacuuming the hallway to the front desk to the two wonderful ladies in the Hunt Room gift shop, everyone was so nice. Frank Sinatra / big band era music playing all the time, incredible history and recently renovated. Room was gorgeous. Bring your credit card though, all this luxury comes with price

Wow. First-Class in Every Way.

My wife and I have stayed at historic luxury resorts up and down the East Coast - Mount Washington, the Greenbrier, the Homestead, Sea Island, etc. The Cavalier doesn't have the name recognition that these other resorts do...yet. But it most certainly will. My wife and I were blown away from the moment we arrived. Factors that set the Cavalier apart: 1) Size: it's big enough to have big-resort amenities (a spa, two memorable restaurants, a few terrific bars), but with only 85 rooms, they are able to provide a truly personalized level of service that's not possible at these other big-name resorts. 2) They're hungry: the staff has been newly hired to serve an $80+ million investment, and they are eager to make good on their promise to "serve the best, with class." The level of initiative taken to make our stay a special one was unusual and unusually personal - I cannot remember another hotel where I was on a first-name basis with four or five staff members after just one weekend. The Hunt Room has a great bar vibe, Becca is as romantic as you could possibly ask for, and our room and views are stunning. Be sure to get an ocean view. Forget everything you've ever heard or thought about Virginia Beach - crowds, boardwalks, etc. This is old-fashioned elegance with a chic edge, delivered without snobbery or pretentiousness at a consistently high level that you'll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. If you go there now, you'll be able to say that you were there before it climbed to the top of the lists of the best resorts on the East Coast

Drinks in the Pub

Stopped with friends to check out the renovated hotel and have drinks in the whiskey bar downstairs. Was beautiful. A bit pricey but great fun. The service was excellent. It is definitely someplace to check out if you like to see beautiful old hotels

Old world resort hotel newly updated

Recently enjoyed an overnight stay at the Cavalier. The setting on the hill and the interior of the newly-restored Cavalier are both amazing. The pool, bar, outdoor seating area, with fire pits, restaurants, are all spectacularly done. The hotel rooms are so welcoming and gorgeous. We loved to see the old photos and read the stories in the display area. What a treasure. We enjoyed dinner in the Hunt Room and breakfast at Becca's. We also did the Tarnished Truth bourbon distillery tour
